Automata Fest is jointly organised by Cabaret Mechanical Theatre and Automata Magazine.

Cabaret Mechanical Theatre

Cabaret Mechanical Theatre is a collection of contemporary automata founded in 1979. They have been entertaining and inspiring visitors and makers ever since. Now based in Hastings, UK they have also toured exhibitions all over the world.

In 2023 we set up Cabaret Mechanical Theatre Learning, a not for profit, Community Interest Company to run a public space where we can share automata and explore making, mechanisms, materials and creativity with the wider community.

Since its inception, the publication has been well received and has grown steadily in readership. Today it is read by nearly 1,000 people from around the world. Articles on every aspect of this relatively obscure art form are included in its pages, written by over 150 knowledgeable and experienced artists, collectors, historians, and enthusiasts from around the world.
